Guest Class with Jamie Blackley

It was so lovely to welcome Jamie Blackley back to D&B to take a guest class and Q&A session with our full time students. Jamie started here many years ago in the part time school, participating in our shows and attending musical theatre and drama classes. He was also represented by D&B Management and took his first professional engagement in the West End in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the original London cast. Years later he made his second west end appearance in the West End playing Hanschen in the original London cast of Spring Awakening.

Having already had some television and film experience, Jamie returned to his main passion of screen acting and starred in Brit film Vinyl before landing his first major studio film ‘If I Stay‘, starring alongside Hollywood royalty Chloe Moretz. His most recent project was ‘Irrational Man‘ directed by Woody Allen and also stars Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone. We are sure that his future will be extremely bright and it was so lovely to see him.

Coming from a musical theatre background and breaking the film industry, he was the perfect person to talk to some of our students who are passionate about working in TV and Film indutsry.

“I really respected Jamie’s honesty about his journey in the industry and the fact that he was so genuine. He gave us great advice about how to deal with auditions whatever the outcome and a cheeky insight to what it’s like working with a-list actors. I’d hope to have a career as fruitful as his!”- Mohammed Mansaray 3rd Year (Check the recent success stories to see what Mohammed has been up to this week- filming a music video for Ed Sheeran and Rudimental!)
