ROB KNOX BURSARY

Playing the role of Marcus Belby, in the film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was surely the start of a very promising career for Rob Knox. It was that promise that was so tragically ended when he became a victim of knife crime - only 18 years old.

Rob had been a successful student at D&B for many years and secured numerous high profile roles through our acting agency. We are proud and honoured to be the professional custodians of The Robert Knox Bursary, which has provided an opportunity for other young people to flourish, grow and become part of the entertainment industry.

Rob’s legacy in the both the entertainment industry and at D&B will live on through the Robert Knox Bursary.

LEE PROUD SCHOLARSHIP

D&B are absolutely over the moon to have launched a brand new scholarship for 2016! The Lee Proud scholarship is for exceptionally talented students from the North East of England.

Leading Chorographer, Lee Proud has worked on everything from big budget West End musicals to small plays around the world including London, Broadway, Sydney, Iceland and Scandinavia. He has a great link with D&B, having trained with Donna at school and choreographing for our Graduation showcase.  Lee said “I am absolutely thrilled and honoured that D&B have chosen me to represent this brand new  scholarship in my name and even more so because of my history and affinity with the North of England.

“We were very grateful to have the chance to come up to Newcastle and audition so many very talented young performers – some of whom we now have the pleasure of working with next year.  This was an incredible link to make with Newcastle College and I hope it’s the start of a wonderful partnership with the College and the area as a whole.”
