DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS?
Please see our frequently asked questions regarding how to audition for the college. If you would prefer to speak to someone, then please don’t hesitate in giving us a call and we can talk you through the process and advise on any queries that you may have.
“When I auditioned for the College I was instantly made to feel welcome. The students and staff were friendly and encouraging and put me completely at ease. I was able to sing, dance and act and speak personally to the principals of the College. I made friends on the day and it made me so excited to come back to start my training in September!”
– Charlie Barnard, Graduate of 2023 and currently appearing in The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre, London

We hold auditions in person every term here at D&B. To audition for D&B School of Performing Arts, applicants will be expected to take part in a technical dance class as well as a commercial jazz class. They would also need to prepare two contrasting songs with sheet music (no longer than 2mins) and a monologue (no longer than 2mins). They would then be interviewed by the Principals to assess their suitability to take on the training. All applicants will hear within 10 working days whether they have been offered a place, invited back for a recall, or declined entry.
We hold an audition session every term and you will be allocated the next available date when you submit your application. We would advise auditioning as soon as possible to avoid disappointment due to our limited intake. We will be auditioning in October 2023, February and April 2024.
To apply, please fill in the form at the top of this page.

Our students come to us with a range of abilities and training. Although it is advantageous to have trained across the areas of dance, singing and acting, many of our students had received little or no training in one or more areas prior to their auditions. Please don’t be put off if you have not taken a ballet class before, or are not a confident singer. We are looking for potential and students that we feel could really develop under our guidance and training. If you would like to come along to part time classes to aid your confidence before your audition, please get in touch so that we could advise you what classes we would suggest.
-
All applicants are considered for a range of bursaries and full scholarships. You do not need to do anything other than apply to put yourself into the running for financial support.

Absolutely! You would need to fill in the form above. After that, we would contact you to arrange your submission. We would ask you to submit the following material via Dropbox or WeTransfer.
We would remind you that securing relevant visas and permissions to study in the UK would be down to the applicant and we would suggest that you look into the practicalities of that before you apply.
The deadline for overseas submissions is the 1st May 2024.
Open Days and Taster Days
Our students often mention that the predominant reason as to why they chose to train with us, was the ‘family feel’ and friendly atmosphere that they experienced at an open day or their audition.
We hold in person open days throughout the year, where we give prospective students and their families the chance to come into the studios and watch classes in progress. Following an introduction to our principals, we allocate a student to each visitor to give a guided tour around the facilities and classes. The benefit of having a student guide means that you can ask any questions you have to the student, before being brought back to reception where our course coordinator is on hand to offer any further information.
Our open days for 2023-2024 are as follows:
- 6th October 2023
- 9th February 2024
- 19th April 2024
Every term we hold a college taster day, giving prospective students aged 14-20, the chance to come along and experience a day at the college. With a day rammed full of classes with our wonderful faculty, it’s a great chance to fully experience what it would be like to train with us. Recent experience days have included classes with Amie Mills in commercial jazz, Joel Cooper for musical theatre jazz, Jon Emmanuel for theatre acting, Callum Callaghan for screen acting, Genevieve Nicole for lyrical jazz and Paul Morrissey for ensemble singing and singing technique. We also bring in current students to perform something that they’ve been working on. The day roughly runs from 9am- 2pm, but times and full timetable will be confirmed closer to the event.
Our upcoming taster days are:
- 28th January 2024
- 12th May 2024
